The Media and Local Government

A native of Sacramento, and third generation Californian, Warren has been teaching in the Sacramento City Unified School District for 32 years. While teaching government to 12th graders for the past 13 years, he has incorporated several “working” field trips and other “hands on” experiences into the curriculum. This enables them to be empowered and challenged to experience firsthand our government in action.

He is chair of the social science department at Hiram Johnson High School, a diversified inner city school. The school recently received a large technology grant which, when fully implemented, will dramatically modify our teaching methods. He is a firm believer in the need to provide quality relevant experiences to students in an academic area that can be very “dry”.

Warren and his wife, also a high school teacher, have been married for 28 years and have two grown daughters. He has worked for the California State Department of Parks and Recreation as a state park ranger for the past 35 years. He enjoys restoring Model A cars, traveling with an Airstream trailer club and landscaping his home in the Sierra foothills.
