Harrington was born and raised in Lakin, Kan.

She went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business education. She went to work at TG&Y headquarters before going to the University of Oklahoma to get certified in elementary education.

While teaching at the elementary level for 19 years, Harrington started her family and has two sons. In 2003, she joined her husband to teach at Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Okla. She is now the business teacher and newspaper adviser.

In 2004, Harrington completed the ASNE High School Journalism Institute at the University of Texas at Austin.

Harrington is active in her church, loves to read, and is an avid basketball fan.
