Bolton is a high school English and journalism teacher in Middletown, N.J. She took her first teaching position in the spring of 2001, and was offered the introductory and advanced journalism classes and advising the newspaper in the fall of 2003.

Bolton has a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s degree in community development from the University of California, Davis. In 2004, she completed the ASNE High School Journalism Institute at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

In her free time, she ferries children, reads and enjoys working in her garden.
