Terrell is a graphic artist in the newsroom of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn., where he has worked for 16 years. Prior to becoming a graphic artist, he was a news page designer there and lent his talents in Web design to help create the early version of the paper's Web site.
A member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Jason has been a longtime member of the Native American Journalists Association , where he has mentored aspiring Native journalists and moderated the college newspaper project, Native Voice, which is put together at the annual NAJA convention. He also participated in the last Unity convention in 1999 as moderator of the student online project.
