Connie Martin teaches journalism, AP Language and Composition, and English I at Manor High School in Manor, Texas. She is currently the advisor for the Lariat, which has recently moved to digital publication and printing from the classroom. This past year was her first year to teach journalism. Martin has taught at all levels of English grades six through twelve in three states. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English from College of St. Mary in 1989 and has earned 33 graduate credits towards her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.

In 2001, she was a participant in the Master Teacher Summer Institute sponsored by the Colleges of Arts and Natural Sciences at University of Texas - Austin. Martin began her journalism studies in high school as a reporter, photographer, and later copy editor of her school's newspaper and yearbook. She was a Quill and Scroll Honorary member.

Martin attended the 2002 ASNE High School Journalism Institute at The University of Texas at Austin.
