Title: Circle in a Box

Objective

To improve student’s design ability to combine graphics, objects and text for layouts. Later create bylines or logos.

Strategy

Using Microsoft Word, Quark XPress, PageMaker or InDesign, create a three-dimensional box with a ball inside. The ball must be inside the box touching three sides and the student’s initials should be on the ball inside the box.

Materials

Computer, program, paper and pencil (sketch object first), written directions on what tools to use.

Time: 2-3 days

• Day 1: Explain assignment.
  • Have students practice with tools-drawing lines, circles, and boxes.
  • Homework: draw sketch.
• Day 2
  • Work from sketch to create design. Save to disk.
• Day 3
  • Finish-touch up completed design and save to disk.
    

Evaluation: Participation in class; finished project saved to your disk.
